How could you help us with our social media and community campaigns?

Social Media & Community Engagement

Sandymount Matero Friendship Programme is a Sandymount based registered charity which supports a Primary School in Matero which is an impoverished suburb of Lusaka  in Zambia. Over the past 12 years the Friendship Programme has provided funding for feeding over 500 pupils, employment of 3 teachers, purchase of books and provision of secondary school scholarships.

Apart from its website (www.sandymountmatero.com) the Programme has minimal Social Media presence and a low level of community and business awareness in Sandymount. The Programme’s promoters are keen to heighten awareness of the Programme locally and through Social Media with the ultimate aim of increasing its fundraising through “idonate.ie”.

Voluntary help is needed in 2 roles to raise the profile of the Programme and continually promote and drive local awareness of it.

Social Media Volunteer

Carry out a range of tasks including:

  1. Audit the Programme’s current presence or absence on all relevant Social Media channels, and provide recommendations to:
    • Update and improve existing presence on channels where already represented
    • Establish a significant presence on any new channels that would be suitable, relevant and effective
  2. Regular posting (weekly / monthly) of content received form Matero on each channel
    • Content creation using photos and text received from the school principal and news of Sandymount fund raising initiatives – adapt content for suitability to platform
  3. Manage the Social Media channels, monitoring any queries and/or comments received and agreeing responses
  4. Monitor hits on the website and other platforms
  5. Up-date the Website

Business Awareness Volunteer

Carry out a range of tasks including:

  1. Establish the current level of awareness of the Programme, both in the community & amongst  businesses  in Sandymount
  2. Investigate feasibility of setting up a business sponsorship scheme in Sandymount
  3. Devise a plan for greater engagement with the community and with local businesses in Sandymount
  4. Assist in implementing an agreed plan and in monitoring its effectiveness.

Who do we need to Volunteer and what is involved?

  • We need someone who is interested and enthusiastic to buy-in to the vision of the Programme, in providing assistance to an overseas community that is less fortunate than Sandymount.
  • The Volunteer(s) could be a student or an employee keen to engage in a Corporate Social Responsibility activity which could provide them with valuable practical experience.
  • We need a self-starter, who will take responsibility for their tasks and drive it forward to increase awareness and raise funds for the Programme.

Social Media Volunteer

  • The Volunteer for (A) will have a good knowledge of Social Media platforms and how they work
  • We estimate it will take approximately half a day to deal with the initial set-up of task 1 and a commitment to approximately 4 hours input per month should suffice for tasks 2 to 5.

Business Awareness Volunteer

  • The Volunteer for (B) will be likely to have some experience in carrying out surveys and in implementing a marketing/communications type plan
  • We estimate the commitment for tasks 6 to 9 will take 2 to 3 hours per week over a period of up to 3 months

The Programme requests volunteers commit to a time period of just 12 months and assist in any subsequent rotation.

We will be delighted to provide appropriate references for inclusion on CVs documenting voluntary service to a local community project.

To discuss or volunteer, please contact james@jnmresearch.com or call 086 257 2646 not later than Monday. 25th January 2021 – indicating which of the positions you are interested in.

Thank You
